Welcome to Barahwolfe Kennels
Owning and breeding pedigree Swedish Vallhunds inrural Otago, New Zealand. We are dedicated to raising awesome puppies that will go on to become loved familymembers for their new owners.
Special emphasis is place on breeding sound pups that are stable and easy to train.We implement a programme of early habituation and socialisation beginning with touch conditioning at 2 weeks.Our pups are available to approved pet homes and are ready to join their new owners at 10 weeks of age.
Show quality puppies are occasionally selected from litters to go to breeders and show homes.

Barahwolfe thanks and acknowledges Rose Madsen of Valkrista kennels(NZ) and Sharon Donaldson of Ausled kennels(Aus) as our trusted friends and mentors in the breed. With a combined 33 years worth of breed knowledge and experience we are fortunate indeed to be able to call on Ausled and Valkrista for their wisdom and advice. We have great friendships with many Swedish Vallhund kennels nationally and internationally, but have the highest regard for these women, their dogs and their commitment to future of Swedish Vallhund as a breed.
Additionally Barahwolfe, (like all of the New Zealand kennels breeding today), acquired our first Swedish Vallhund bitch from Valkrista - and we salute the pioneering spirit and generosity that Rose has always displayed in her quest to firmly establish the breed on our shores. We pay tribute to her continued willingness to share her breed lines, which have regularly been added to with the importing of no less than 7 stud dogs from various parts of the world over the last decade and a half. This expensive and ongoing dedication to constant diversification and outcrossing to the new stud dogs, improving and moving forward with her breeding programme has protected the Valkrista legacy from inbreeding and bottle necking of a narrow gene pool that might otherwise have occurred under a less thoughtful direction.
We aspire to continue with the example set by New Zealand's foremost
and respected n.z.k.c. registered Valkrista kennel.
