* Promotion
In line with the mission statement, the Swedish Vallhund club are endevouring to promote and lift the profile of the breed nationally. We are delighted to see that the new 'fetch' magazine, produced by Lifestyle publishing is to feature Swedish Vallhunds in their next edition ~ Wahoooo!!!!!   Alistair Hall and the great team producing 'Fetch' have been very supportive of our club.  Additional to printing a feature about Västgötaspet, they have agreed to contribute three 1 year subscriptions of 'fetch' as prizes for our Art Competition!  We are very grateful for  their sponsorship.  The new magazine is for dog owners and is a cracking read with well written and substantial content.  We wish Lifestyle Publishing every success  in their new venture.  So make sure you get down to your book store and grab a copy as it lands on the shelves!

The club has other exciting projects for national exposure of our fabulous little dogs in the pipeline now.  Details announced in March, so watch this space!

 Have your kids enter the Art Competition found at the bottom of this page,

and maybe they will win a 12 months subscription to New Zealands only

dedicated Dog Magazine purchasable in bookstores nationwide.

* Pet Expo

We are planning to be at the Pet Expo in Hamilton later this year.  The date for the Expo is Saturday 31st July & Sunday 1st August 2010  and will be held at Claudelands Events Centre, Hamilton, from 10 am to 5pm both days.  If there are any members who would like to join us and help out on our stall they would be very welcome.  The organisers are expecting in excess of 12,000 people to flow through the centre over the two days.  So it should be a busy and wonderful opportunity to tell New Zealand about our great little dogs.

* Bobbie
Congratulations to Kath Sinclair and Greg Sloane of Torvall kennel in Wellington.  Kath has sent us the photo below and reports that Bobbie (Torvall Liten Flika) is taking to the show scene very well earning herself 'Best Baby Puppy of Group' at the Kapi-Mana Kennel Society's Summer Championship Show, where she was up against some 6 or 7 other baby puppies.  Also Bobbie won Best Baby Puppy of show and Best on parade at a Ribbon Parade run by the Wellington Show judges Association.  Well done Bobbie, we shall watch for your continued winning way.

* Committee Meeting
The next committee meeting will be held in Otago February 20th.  The major items on the agenda will include a possible move to be recognised and associated to the N.Z.K.C. and becoming an Incorporated Society.  A copy of the meeting minutes will be available to any club member upon request to the secretary from the 27th of February.

* Swedish Children's Park
These photographs were taken recently by a member visiting Sweden. In a playground park there were several farm animal statues for children to play on.  Included with the pig and cows was this farm dog, clearly a little Swedish Vallhund with curled spitz tail and short legs.   Lisa Jonsson writes:

"The playground is in the most southern part of Sweden, Skåne, in the town of Malmö in Videdals parken.  Where the park is now was once a dairy farm. When the council revamped the playground some years ago they obviously took into consideration the local history and incorporated all the farm animals, there is a fence built just like you would see on some farms from years ago."
