IMPORTANT UPDATE January 2021

Yes we have litters planned in 2021.

This is a heads up before you write to us, the post Covid airfare from Dunedin to the North Island for a single puppy is $450.

We are not selling breeding dogs at this time, all our puppies go out on desexing contracts.  These are pet dogs only.  If you are looking to take your puppy to dog shows please talk to us as this requires a different agreement and permissions for a dog to remain entire at adulthood.

By all means send us a message with your questions, we are happy to talk to anyone about this amazing, and rare dog breed and how to get onto our wait list.

Barahwolfe puppies head away to their new families:
  • Microchipped
  • Vaccinated,
  • Well raised,
  • Parasite free,
  • Vet checked,
  • Registered,
  • Fully papered
  • With first weeks free pet insurance.
We stand in support of the dogs we breed and are excited to introduce them to good homes and dog loving owners.

We typically have 1-3 litters per year, and occasionally plan a year off.  2020 is organised with some fantastic pairings of exciting new bloodlines which we will carefully mesh with our established New Zealand breeding.

We choose to use and promote Southern Cross as New Zealand's best Pet Insurance policy providers.

When applying for a puppy or to join our wait list, please include detail about previous dog ownership and what kind of a life you can offer one of our fabulous dogs?

Barahwolfe have a very active and friendly online Facebook group for Vallhund owners.  With members numbering around 300 we have built a broad nationwide community for Vallhund owners.

Barahwolfe pride ourselves on producing, insanely cute, well bred, good natured, healthy, happy Swedish Vallhund dogs.

Genetic and pedigree diversity is an essential part of dedicated breeder interest.  At Barahwolfe we have imported a wider range of bloodlines than any other breeder in New Zealand today.  In addition to our importations from Sweden/Finland and Australia we are currently bringing new bloodlines in from the United States.

Puppy buyers can rest assured we
guarantee the genetic health of our puppies.

Yes we health test our breeding dogs.

We obtain clear eye certification through Mornington Vet clinic in Dunedin and take our dogs to see Dr Steve Heap.

Trixie, Annie and Merc pictured at Mornington vets in 2018 off to see Dr Steve for their eye checks.  Prior to 2017 our dogs were checked and assessed by Dr Craig Irving through Queenstown Vets.  We began screening our dogs eyes in 2009.

We never over breed our girls and typically they are retired after only 1-3 litters in her lifetime.  We believe Swedish Vallhunds deserve the best possible life, and even if contributing the gene-pool their home family and daily life is priority. Peta is a qualified Vet Nurse and raises pups in a family environment and paying attention to sound animal husbandry, and best practice in ethics and care of our breeding dogs.

Barahwolfe is located in a rural setting in Otago.  We live on a sheep farm about an hour south of Dunedin.  Were we are located has not prevented us from sending pups to people all over New Zealand.

We invite members of the prospective dog owning public to message us if they have questions and would like to know more about us and our fantastic dogs.
